Clumber House

From an Old Postcard.

1760-1938

The Building was Demolished After a Fire in 1938.

This house was built by Stephen Wright between 1760 and 1770 and added to by Sir Charles Barry who was the architect for the Houses of Parliament.

The older part of the building was restored by Charles Barry after a fire in March 1879 after 20 of the 105 rooms were destroyed.

The lake was used to sail large replica boats on.

The grounds of Clumber are now owned and maintained by the National Trust.
